i know i should be grateful for whatever i have
but i can't stop noticing the imperfections in me
especially after looking at the photos i took
my face is too big
my nose is too round
my eyes are too small
my hair is curly and dry
my complexion is bad
i have no figure
i feel so superfical
bothering myself over these frivolous things
i advise people to have confidence in themselves
but i realise i don't practise what i preach
people say that beauty lies in the eye of the beholder
is that really true?
why then is there always a common notion of a beautiful girl?
oval-shaped face
sharp nose
big eyes
smooth porcelain skin
nice long flowy hair
they say character is more important than the looks
but can one really be totally oblivious towards one's own looks?
why is it that they say the first impression is very important?
why is there so much emphasis these days on image and beauty?
why am i seeing so many ads that keep persuading people to enlarge their breasts or go for slimming?
i realise i am growing cynical of what people say
i have seen it in school
it's all the pretty out-going girls who get the guys and all the attention they want
girls like me just sit at the side and look on
it's not that i want a boyfriend or attention
but i just feel that i will never have that chance
because in the first place i dun even have that first impression to start off with
i know some girls wanna look chio
but for me i just want to look acceptable
but i can never seem to get even that far
i thought i have straightened out my thoughts
but it seemed that i haven't
